Social Media

Social media is the social interaction among people in which they create, share or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks. Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein define social media as "a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, and that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated content." Furthermore, social media depend on mobile and web-based technologies to create highly interactive plat forms through which individuals and communities share, co-create, discuss, and modify user-generated content. They introduce substantial and pervasive changes to communication between organizations, communities, and individuals.

Social media differ from traditional or industrial media in many ways, including quality, reach, frequency, usability, immediacy, and permanence. There are many effects that stem from internet usage. According to Nielsen, internet users continue to spend more time with social media sites than any other type of site. At the same time, the total time spent on social media in the U.S. across PC and mobile devices increased by 37 percent to 121 billion minutes in July 2012 compared to 88 billion minutes in July 2011. For content contributors, the benefits of participating in social media have gone beyond simply social sharing to building reputation and bringing in career opportunities and monetary income, as discussed in Tang, Gu, and Whinston (2012).

Social media technologies take on many different forms including magazines, Internet forums, weblogs, social blogs, microblogging, wikis, social networks, podcasts, photographs or pictures, video, rating and social bookmarking. Technologies include blogging, picture-sharing, vlogs, wall-posting, music-sharing, crowdsourcing and voice over IP, to name a few. Social network aggregation can integrate many of the platforms in use.
Seven different types of social media :
1. collaborative projects (for example, Wikipedia)
2. blogs and microblogs (for example, Twitter)
3. Social news networking sites (for example, Digg and Leakernet)
4. content communities (for example, YouTube and DailyMotion)
5. social networking sites (for example, Facebook)
6. virtual game-worlds (e.g., World of Warcraft)
7. virtual social worlds (e.g. Second Life)

Alat-alat komunikasi yang berkembang zaman sekarang semestinya membuat kita menjadi manusia yang terhormat dan bermartabat.
Paus kita meminta agar alat komunikasi yang digunakan dapat membantu kita berjumpa dengan orang lain untuk membangun persaudaran, relasi yang sejati saling menghormati dan menghargai “Sekarang ini ada dosa baru dengan adanya handphone, yakni gosip.
Bukan gosip dengan kata-kata melainkan dengan jari. Bully menjadi tren. Jangan dianggap ini hal yang biasa. Alat komunikasi tidak semestinya menjadikan orang lain tidak dihormati,” misa Komunikasi Sosial Sedunia ke-48 di Paroki St. Maria Immaculata Mataram oleh Pastor Frans Sidok, SVD, Minggu (1/6/ 2014).
Jangan menjauhkan yang dekat dan mendekatkan yang jauh, lihat lah komunikasi yang dibangun oleh Tuhan Yesus melalui wafat dan sengsaranya, memberikan diri seutuhnya bagi manusia, itulah wujud komunikasi yang sejati, perjumpaan dan pemberian diri bagi sesama dan Tuhan.
Alat-alat ini, harus dilihat sebagai anugerah dari Allah. Seperti kata Paus, alat komunikasi ini harus membantu manusia membangun relasi persaudraan, komunikasi persaudaran dimana setiap orang berkembang, bermartabat.
Jika alat-alat modern ini tidak dimengerti dengan baik yakni untuk membangun suatu hubungan yang manusiawi, kita bisa tersesat. Seperti ditulis dalam Surat Paulus kepada jemaat di Galatia 5:22-23 menyebutkan bahwa buah roh adalah kasih, suka cita, damai sejahtera, kesabaran, kemurahan, kebaikan, kesetiaan, kelemahlembutan, penguasaan diri.
Pekan Komunikasi Sosial Sedunia ke-48 yang diselenggarakan di paroki Mataram diakhiri dengan Perayaan Ekaristi, kegiatan seputar hari KOMSOS adalah pelatihan-pelatihan yang bernuansa komunikasi seperti pelatihan fotografi, desain blogspot dan Majalah dinding.

Dalam suatu sistem komunikasi tidak hanya terbatas pada cara bertukar informasi, tapi juga pada peralatan yang digunakan, pengaplikasiannya, implikasi teknologi komunikasi tersebut, manipulasi, dan potensi pertukaran informasi dalam sistem komuniksai tersebut. Dunia komunikasi dan teknologinya saling berhubungan erat. 

Tanpa adanya teknologi komunikasi yang canggih maka komunikasi pun tidak akan berjalan dengan baik. Jika kita mengikuti perkembangan tekonologi komunikasi maka tak lepas dari pandangan kita, dunia teknologi itu merupakan dunia yang cepat berubah. Saya akan berbagi informasi tentang teknologi komuniksai yang sedang berkembang sekarang ini, terbaru dan tercanggih, diantaranya: 

Samsung i8910 Omnia HD 

Samsung vendor ponsel asal Korea Selatan, belakangan ini giat membanjiri pasar dengan deretan ponsel kelas atas. Salah satu yang patut diperhitungkan jelas Omnia HD. Meski berukuran cukup besar, dengan berat 148 gram, ponsel ini tetap nyaman digenggam, bahkan terkesan elegan.

Aplikasi dan fitur yang ada memang bikin ngiler, di antaranya layar AMOLED besar dengan tampilan cemerlang. Kameranya 8 megapiksel dengan kemampuan video recording HD (high definition). Layar sentuh berbasis TouchWiz disebut-sebut sebagai yang terbaik dibanding milik ponsel Samsung lainnya. Selain itu juga masih ada fitur Wi Fi, Bluetooth dan GPS.

Motorola Droid 

Setelah cukup lama terpuruk, Motorola menghantam balik dengan Droid, sebuah handset high end berbasis sistem operasi terkini dari Google, yakni Android 2. Ponsel ini menjanjikan browsing web yang lebih cepat dan layanan dari Google (Mail, Apps, Search, Talk) nyaris tanpa cacat.

Bodinya cukup mewah dan solid, dibekali keyboard QWERTY sliding dengan tombol besar yang nyaman untuk mengetik. Layar sentuh WVGAnya terbilang besar dan berkualitas tinggi, memanjakan pengalaman mobile user. Tak hanya itu, kamera 5 megapikselnya tangguh untuk memotret.

iPhone 3GS 

Singgasana iPhone sebagai rajanya ponsel tampaknya masih belum tergoyahkan. Meski sudah cukup lama beredar, handset andalan Apple ini masih laris manis bak kacang goreng.

Sesuatu yang ditawarkan iPhone 3GS memang boleh dibilang belum ada tandingannya meski sudah banyak vendor yang coba menyaingi. Layar sentuh amat mumpuni, pemrosesan yang cepat serta utamanya, aplikasi melimpah ruah dari App Store, membuat handset ini masih terfavorit.

Toru (山下 亨 Yamashita Tōru, born December 7, 1988 in Osaka) is the leader and guitarist of the group. He also contributes some vocals. He was previously a member of the hip-hop dance group Heads with Ryota.
Taka (森田 貴寬 Morita Takahiro, born April 17, 1988 in Tokyo) is the main vocalist of the group. Prior to debuting with ONE OK ROCK, he was a member of the boy band, NEWS. He is the son of singers Shinichi Mori and Masako Mori and the older brother to Hiroki, the singer of My First Story.
Ryota (小浜 良太 Kohama Ryōta, born September 4, 1989 in Osaka) is the bassist of the group. He was also previously a member of the hip-hop dance group Heads with Toru.
Tomoya (神吉 智也 Kanki Tomoya, born June 27, 1987 in Hyogo) is the drummer of the group.
Former members
Alex (鬼澤アレクサンダー礼門 Onizawa Alexander Reimon, born March 19, 1988 in San Francisco) was the lead guitarist of the group along with rhythm guitarist Toru, until he left in May 2009 after being arrested on charges of groping, Toru then took Alex's place as lead guitar.
Tomo (小柳友 Koyanagi Yuu, born August 29, 1988 in Tokyo) was the original drummer of the group since before their official debut. He left the band in June 2006 to follow an acting career.

Matsushita Yuya was raised by his mother and grandmother. During elementary school time, he played for the school's soccer team. At aged 12 , he enrolled in Osaka's vocal and dance school CALESS to train his vocals and dance skills. In third year of middle school, due to conflict with his mother, Matsushita went to New York alone to pursue his devotion for music. He then dropped out of high school to pursuit his dream to become a singer. In the year 2005, his talent was discovered by producer Nakamura Jin. In the year 2008, Matsushita signed with Sony Music Entertainment's sub-label EPIC Records and made his major debut with the single "foolish foolish".
In the year 2009, Matsushita debuted as an actor with the role of Iwatsu Ataru in the movie Kanashii Boyfriend. He also performed an insert song of the movie, "Mr. "Broken Heart"" which was coupled with his debut single "foolish foolish". He also starred the character Sebastian Michaelis in the musical adaption of Kuroshitsuji.

Asus kembali melakukan gebragan setelah mereka sukses meluncurkan Google Nexus 7, kali ini giliran Asus Zenfone 4 yang mereka rilis untuk kelas low entry di Indonesia. Menggunakan spesifikasi tinggi, untuk kelas Low Entry, menjadikan Asus Zenfone 4 menjadi salah satu produk terbaik yang patut anda miliki. Menggunakan procesor Intel Atom, menjadi hal membedakan Asus Zenfone 4 dengan smartphone Android lainnya, tak hanya itu ponsel ini juga sudah memiliki Ram berukuran 1 GB yang patut kita ancungi jempol.
Dengan harga yang sangat murah hanya 1 Jutaan, handphone ini sudah menggunakan spesifikasi kelas tinggi layaknya handphone berharga 2 Juta keatas. Asus Zenfone 4 perkenalkan ke publik pada bulan Januari 2014, handphone ini sudah menggunakan OS Jelly Bean 4.3 dan sudah di pastikan akan mendapatkan Upgrade ke Androdi Kitkat. Asus Zenfone 4 memiliki desaing cukup tebal, dengan ketebalan berukuran 11.2 mm, dan berat total sebesar 115 g. Dari sektor layar sudah tersedia panenl LCD dengan bentang 4 inch, dengan resolusi sebesar r 480 x 800 pixels. Handphone ini tak memiliki lapisan IPS Display, akan tetapi sudah memiliki teknologi Corning Gorilla Glass 3, yang mampu melindungi layar dari beragam goresan benda tajam.
Memory internal yang di sediakan pada Asus Zenfone berukuran 4 GB dengan dukungan Slot MicroSD sampai kapasitas 32 GB. Jaran sekali ada ponsel dengan harga 1 Jutaan yang menggunakan Ram berkapasitas sebesar  ini.
Asus Zenfone 4 juga sudah ditanamkan Android OS, v4.3 (Jelly Bean) yang bisa di upgrade ke Android Kitkat, menggunakan OS terbaru, tentu harus di imbangi dengan CPU berkualitas. Untuk sektor dapur pacu sudah tersedia CPU Intel Atom Z2520, Dual-core 1.2 GHz. Walaupun masing Dual Core, namun kinerja CPU ini sebanding dengan CPU Quad Core dari Mediatek ataupun Snapdragon yang memiliki kecepatan 1.2 Ghz.

Kemudian dari segi grafis, ponsel ini patut di ancungi jempol karena sudah menggunakan GPU PowerVR SGX544MP2  yang sanggup melahap berbagai konten multimedia yang anda miliki, namun ada 1 kelemahan Asus Zenfone 4 yaitu kapasitas baterai yang sangat kecil, hanya 1170 mAh.
Dari sektor kamera sudah tersedia 2 kamera depan dan belakang dengan lensa 5 mp pada kamera belakang dan kamera bertipe VGA pada kamera depan. Tak ada teknologi seperti LED Flash maupun Autofocus, jadi sangat wajar apabila pengambilan foto pada malam hari atau di tempat kurang cahaya tak akan maksimal.
